About the ICAN Summit
A diverse region should have a diverse healthcare workforce that understands the cultural nuances, linguistic diversity, and social determinants of health prevalent within their communities and seeks to improve care.
This two-day summit for K-12 and higher education instructors and administrators, healthcare professionals and advocates, health science students, and policymakers, creates a powerful environment where diverse voices explore innovative and equitable solutions toward better community health while alleviating healthcare workforce shortages.
The summit includes workshops for professionals and a community event for youth and their families to explore the STEM fields and career opportunities in healthcare.

Meanwhile, our equally longstanding education programs prepare the next generation of teachers and school leaders, who will help build the future healthcare workforce.
Our innovative curriculum includes applying critical thinking skills in the classroom, simulation, and clinical settings with a holistic, collaborative, interdisciplinary patient-centered approach. This focus prepares students for the dynamic challenges of diverse populations and the changing healthcare landscape.
Programs will take place in the Armory Building at Russell Sage College (130 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208). In addition to classrooms, meeting space, and offices, the Armory has a 21,000-square-foot open space with indoor turf.
