Russell Sage College will begin offering a minor in Entrepreneurial Sustainability in fall 2021.

The Entrepreneurial Sustainability minor is designed for students who would like to complement their major with interdisciplinary courses that explore multiple approaches to environmental and social challenges.

Students enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Sustainability minor will select courses in the areas of ecology and the natural environment, social and political systems and business and economics. They will also participate in three one-credit service-learning courses that allow them to work directly on sustainability issues in the community.

“In many ways, a sustainability mindset is becoming a trait that employers look for,” said Kevin Fletcher, Ph.D., assistant professor and chair of Sage’s School of Management. “The content knowledge and skills development proposed with the Entrepreneurial Sustainability minor support a range of majors at Russell Sage College and are marketable to any number of careers.”

Fletcher said that the new minor also complements Thrive @ Russell Sage, the college’s signature program emphasizing well-being in all aspects of student life.

“Sustainability and well-being are linked and are key parts of Russell Sage College’s educational approach,” he said. “The new Entrepreneurial Sustainability minor is an example of how Sage is building a curriculum that supports individual, social and planetary well-being.”
