Eligibility Requirements

Per the Department of Education’s guidance, Institutions must make financial aid grants to students, which can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or child care. Unlike the CARES Act, the CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants, and authorizes grants to students exclusively enrolled in distance education. 

Emergency grant amounts are awarded to students with exceptional need based on information from the students FASFA and calculated Expect Family Calculation (EFC).  In order to ensure that this funds are being directed to students with exceptional these are the following requirements placed on this award:

  • Enrolled as of 3/1/2021
  • Undergraduate Student must have a FASFA on file
  • Undergraduate Student that are Non Pell Eligible must have unmet need of $175 or more
  • Graduate Student must have a minimum EFC of $1 
  • Must be making satisfactory academic progress
  • Must be a US Citizen

Group One: Undergraduate Pell Eligible Students. Total distribution of $603,850 by March 15, 2021

  • Expect Family Contribution (EFC) $0 to $1,400 as calculated through the FAFSA process awarded $1,500 full time or $750 part time
  • Expect Family Contribution (EFC) $1401 to $2,900 as calculated through the FAFSA process awarded $1,100 full time or $550 part time
  • Expect Family Contribution (EFC) $2,901 to $4,400 as calculated through the FAFSA process awarded $800 full time or $400 part time
  • Expect Family Contribution (EFC) $4,401 to $5,711 as calculated through the FAFSA process awarded $600 full time or $300 part time  

Group Two: Undergraduate Non Pell Eligible Students: Total distribution of $126,750 on March 15, 2021

  • Unmet need of $175 and greater as calculated through the FAFSA process awarded $250 full time and $125 part time  

Group Three: Graduate Students: Total distribution of $163,025 on March 15, 202

  • Unmet need of $10,000 and greater are awarded $450 full time and $225 part time  
  • Unmet need ranging from $1 to $9,999 awarded $450 full time and $225 part time 

Russell Sage College’s Student Accounts Department notified students that there was a possibility that they would receive an award and provided and option to apply it to their student accounts.  At that time the award list was not finalized, the email was not a guarantee that an award will be given. If the Student Accounts Department did not receive a response to their notification, the award will be transferred into your bank account on file or a check mailed.
