The Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program — also known as CSTEP — at Russell Sage College is a grant-funded program sponsored by the New York State Department of Education to support talented underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors and licensed professional careers.
CSTEP offers academic workshops and seminars, academic support and enrichment, career planning workshops, assistance finding research or internship experiences in STEM content areas and numerous other opportunities critical to student success.

CSTEP is currently accepting applications for the 2024 CSTEP Summer Research Program
- May 13-July 3 (8 weeks)
- Earn $3,000 and 1 college credit
- Work with Sage faculty or community mentor
- Present research findings at the end of the Summer Symposium

Admission to the CSTEP Program is open to Russell Sage College students at all levels — first year through senior year students, transfer students and graduate students as well as post baccalaureate pre-med students — who meet specific eligibility requirements:
- New York State resident for at least 12 months
- African-American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian or Alaskan native
OR meet the economic eligibility requirements established by New York State - full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- intent to pursue a major and career in a STEM discipline or licensed profession
- minimum GPA of 2.5 overall and 2.5 in the major
