The Sage Libraries support the mission of Russell Sage College by providing access to research and information resources that are the foundations of scholarship, intellectual growth and artistic development.

Materials in the libraries serve the programs and majors primarily located on each campus. The combined holdings of both libraries include more than 250,000 volumes of books, serials and microforms; more than 12,000 media items; as well as access to more than 60,000 electronic periodicals and approximately 80,000 ebooks. In collaboration with faculty, librarians seek to maintain a well-rounded collection of authoritative materials that support Sage’s academic mission.

Each location has work areas that facilitate both quiet study and group collaboration.

Library Information/Circulation Desks in both campus learning centers are staffed nearly 80 hours per week, providing timely research and technical assistance in-person and via phone, email, and online chat.

The libraries are open to the public. Certain resources are restricted to the Sage community.

Albany Campus Learning Center

The Albany campus library was renovated in 2009 to create the Albany Campus Learning Center, which integrates Hazel’s Café, Academic Support Services and Career Planning. The Verschoor Room, located on the second floor, houses a comprehensive collection of art books and is a popular space for quiet study.

Shea Learning Center

The Troy campus library was renovated in 2013 to create the Shea Learning Center, named after Lucille Rosenfeld Shea, who attended Russell Sage in 1937 and 1938. The Shea Learning Center houses Academic Advising, Academic Support, the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Donnelly Center for Undergraduate Research, the IT Help Desk, Russell Sage Online, the Writing Studio and Lucille’s Cafe. The library has a special collection of approximately 9,000 poetry books in the Donahue Poetry Collection, located on the second floor.
