After a national search, Teri Gartland, who most recently served as assistant vice president for major gifts at Ohio University, has been named vice president for advancement at Russell Sage College, leading the college’s fundraising, corporate and community partnerships, and alumnae/i relations.

Gartland will begin her work at Russell Sage on February 18.

“I was fortunate to work with Teri at Ohio University, and she is a gifted fundraiser, communicator, and leader, and I’m thrilled she will be working alongside us as we enter a new chapter at Russell Sage with the rollout of our Sage Forward strategic plan this fall,” said Russell Sage President Matthew Shaftel. “Her ability to tell an institution’s story will generate support for the many initiatives at Russell Sage that advance our standing as a top institution for social mobility and workforce development.”

Gartland has served at Ohio University since 2018, most recently as assistant vice president for major gifts, where she led a team of 16 major gift officers in surpassing fundraising goals for five consecutive years and developed the “Give Like Gary” campaign, which won a platinum award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). 

She brings more than 25 years of development experience to Russell Sage, including her work in higher education, community nonprofit, and healthcare organizations. Gartland is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
