About Jenna Curren

I want my students to experience an environment that is conducive to others sharing their professional experiences so that everyone is able to learn from each other and use those experiences to critically think about the ways in which they can make positive impacts on the criminal justice system. Fostering an classroom environment that puts the students’ experiences first, whether they are field related or not, will greatly improve the sense of community created amongst the students. Understanding the dynamics of an ever-changing field like criminal justice and being able to analyze complex situations that need out-of-the box solutions can only be accomplished when the classroom is inclusive of all learning styles.

Meanwhile, I’ll bring my own industry experience, including my previous work at the Connecticut Department of Correction, to our classroom discussions. I’m a former Lieutenant for the Connecticut Department of Correction, former Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, former Connecticut Department of Correction Honor Guard member, and former statewide certified trainer for the Connecticut Department of Correction.
