Nine Russell Sage College students and five faculty members presented research at the 2024 Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference.
Professor of English Tonya Moutray and Assistant Professor of the Practice of Writing Nathanael Green co-direct the RSC Honors Program and were local cohosts of the conference held at the Hilton in Albany on April 4-7.
The student presenters included:
— Mena Abdelmeged and Danielle Williams, who presented a poster titled “The Effect of Skin Pigmentation and Nail Polish on Pulse Oximeter Measurements.”
— Zahra Arshad and Lydia Ragubir, who presented a poster titled “Patching Through: The Future of Global Immunization.”
— Katrina Beach, who presented a poster titled “Lobotomy and Tennessee Williams: Inside the Mind of an American Playwright.”
— Denique Bennett, who presented a poster titled “Treating Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders in String Instrumentalists with Technology.”
— Emily Cumo, who presented a poster titled “How the Human Papillomavirus Affects Men.”
— Morgan Dempsey, who presented “Using Art Therapy to Enhance Social and Emotional Wellness in Neurodivergent Individuals” during a panel discussion.
—Daniel Kagan, who presented two posters, “Learning STEM in the New Age of Technology” and “Tennessee Williams’ Women.”
Russell Sage College faculty also presented at the conference.
—Assistant Professor of Graphic + Media Design Leah Rico was a panelist during the opening panel discussion, titled “Intersections of Technology and Thought.”
—Professor of Theatre David Baecker presented “Teaching Tennessee Williams in the 21st Century” during the Idea Exchange.
— Associate Professor of Health Sciences Stacie Kutz presented “Ethics and Human Rights in Biology” during the Idea Exchange.
—Professor of English Tonya Moutray and Assistant Professor of Nursing Gertrude Hutchinson presented “Nursing and Literature: Shaping Honors Curriculum for Health Sciences and Nursing” during the Idea Exchange.
