Glenda Kelman, Russell Sage College Nursing program chair

Glenda Bartholomew Kelman, P.hD., RN, ACNP-BC, chair and professor of nursing at Russell Sage College is a finalist in the Albany Times Union’s annual Salute to Nurses. The finalists will be honored at a virtual event on May 20 at 12:30 p.m.

Under Dr. Kelman’s leadership, Sage’s Nursing program was ranked highest among other nursing programs in New York’s Capital Region in the 2022 edition of the U.S. News & World Report annual “Best Colleges” publication.

Dr. Kelman is a proud alumna of Sage’s undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.  

She completed her doctorate in Nursing Theory and Research at New York University and a post-Master’s for acute care nurse practitioners at the College of New Rochelle. 

In addition to her administrative roles at Sage, she teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs including the Adult-Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner track. Dr.  Kelman has co-authored a text on home health care nursing and published chapters and journal articles related to quality and safety in nursing. 

Dr. Kelman also serves as a nursing research consultant in an academic-practice partnership with St. Peter’s Hospital. She practices per diem as a nurse practitioner at Samaritan Hospital, and also volunteers as a nurse practitioner at the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless in Albany.

She is a board member of Glens Falls Hospital including chair of its Quality and Safety Committee, and member of the Albany Med Health Systems (AMHS) Board. She is also Chair of the NYS Foundation for Quality Care which is the non-profit education and research organization of the New York State Health Facilities Association and the New York State Center for Assisted Living.
