Department of Psychology
The Psychology Department at Sage offers a wide variety of programs at the associate, baccalaureate, and graduate-degree levels, which prepare the student for a career in the field of psychology or related areas. Completion of any of these programs will enable a student to enter the world of work or to continue with more advanced study.

Graduate Studies (MA)
The 42 credit Master of Arts in Community Psychology focuses on the systems, practices and tools needed to effectively address mental health and community welfare issues.
The 60 credit Master of Arts in Counseling and Community Psychology trains Mental Health Counselors to provide individual group and family evaluation and counseling services from a community psychology perspective. This program is registered with the New York State Education Department as meeting the educational requirements leading to licensure as a mental health counselor in New York State.
Students wishing to practice as mental health counselors in forensic or correctional settings with adults or juveniles can elect to pursue a Certificate in Forensic Mental Health as part of the MA in Counseling and Community Psychology.
Baccalaureate Degree (BA,BS)
A psychology major will acquire an understanding of the cognitive, emotional and behavioral functioning of individuals from a variety of perspectives and with a sensitivity for cultural diversity. Careers are available in a variety of fields such as mental health, college teaching and research, law, business and management.
The psychology/childhood education major prepares a student for a career teaching children.
A student who minors in psychology is gaining an understanding of psychology in order to prepare for a career outside the field of psychology or because of personal interest.
