History, Law & Government
The Department of History, Law, and Government offers students a unique opportunity to explore these subjects within a highly interdisciplinary context. Both globally and community-oriented, the division looks at central aspects of the human experience on a worldwide scale while understanding that these social experiences exist within many levels of the human community.
The HLG department is also the base for a number of associated institutions that offer students rich and diverse educational experiences. These include:
- the Climate Crisis Educational Center and the interdisciplinary Environmental Studies program
- the Council for Citizenship Education
- the SAGE-SIFT (Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade) Institute for Sino-American Studies
- the State Court Watch program of the New York State Bar Association's Law, Youth and Citizenship Program

Students in the division participate in a range of academic and career-oriented activities such as:

- the National Conference on Undergraduate Research
- the Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honors Society
- the Pre-Law Club
- the first-ever Student League of Independent Voters
