A Broad Education for Wherever Life Takes You

Russell Sage College’s School of Arts and Sciences prepares students for careers in the arts, government, non-profit agencies and corporations, as well as for further study in a range of fields. Many of our programs are interdisciplinary — students complement the core courses in their program with electives in a variety of subjects. Several linked and accelerated programs make it possible to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in less time than it would take to pursue the degrees individually.

“One of the great things about a small college like Sage is that we get to know each other as people, and we help each other out. “

Andrea Rehn
Dean

Goals

In every academic department in the School of Arts and Sciences, professors and students ask big questions and then read widely, write intensely and collaborate zealously as they pursue answers. You’ll build agile thinking skills that will allow you to adapt quickly in a changing job market. Hands-on research, internships and service-learning projects ensure you will graduate well-educated and well-connected.

Research

Students in every discipline regularly conduct research, present at conferences including the prestigious National Conference on Undergraduate Research, and have their work published. Active academic honor societies provide additional opportunities to exchange ideas, network and learn.
